My name is Jayden Ramirez, and I’m a freshman graphic design student. I enjoy the fact that I can be creative, and knowing I can express myself in graphic design makes participating in the class much more pleasurable. I am inspired by everything around me and the people I surround myself with; it could be as simple as running a mile in PE, a flower blooming, or maybe it could be the change of color in the sky, and immediately ideas begin to fill my mind. I think having the ability to be creative and artistic is a very applicable characteristic to obtain, especially if designing is what sparks your interest.

Joining graphic design has helped me stay in touch with my creative skills while still attending school. I take an interest in many art mediums, and I’m very open-minded to different types. I’m very fond of drawing with pencils, tablets, and other than drawing methods of art, I enjoy video editing, photography, and writing. Outside of school, I have many drawing softwares installed on my computer and iPad. I usually use my iPad to draw when I’m on road trips when I can’t bring my Wacom. I’ve been using digital drawing softwares and apps for about five years now, and my passion has grown stronger. Other than digital art, I’ve taken many art classes, including classes in middle school. There, I got to experience different mediums of art, and I was able to pick which ones I favored. On my own time, I also discovered my love for video editing, photography, and writing. When I have free time, which is nearly impossible, I love to edit video montages and write short stories. I’m very skilled at putting the right audio and music with my montages and they turn out very aesthetic. I also have a way with my typography that it goes well with the video. I also like to make mood boards, posters, fake CD covers with track lists.

I think one thing about my art that could stand out is how diverse my style is. I’m still trying to find my style of drawing, and I’ve experienced different ways to draw certain things, mainly body parts such as eyes and hands. I also think that I’m good at creating depth and putting life into my creations. When I show my artwork or designs to my peers, there’s always something new I learn that I add to my designs. And every design I make, it comes out better than the previous work I composed. I strive to improve on my work, and I only want the result to look like I’ve enhanced my creations.

I found my love and passion for art when I was very young. I was surrounded by creativity and artwork by my family, and I never disliked creating something by using my imagination. Art was always so fascinating to me, and I never got tired of creating new ideas. My love for it only developed when I was introduced to digital art and video editing. I then learned about Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere. I have such a broad range of artistic fields that I’m practically surrounded by art and design every day. When it comes to art and design, I look forward to learning new types of art and genres. I can surely work with deadlines, and my communication skills are very exceptional that collaborating with other artists are not a problem for me.

I have so many dreams and aspirations that I want to accomplish in the future. I want to be an animator for an animation studio, or possibly a graphic artist, video editor, screenwriter, or maybe I could compose music. Hopefully, I will be able to work with popular animation studios like Dreamworks or Pixar, or I can edit a popular movie for a company such as Marvel. What also seems interesting is I could create covers for CD’s. There’s so many aspirations that spark my interest that in my future there’s a lot I want to accomplish. By taking this graphic design class, I will be able to enhance my design skills for the future in order to accomplish all my goals and desires. I will also be taking a photography class too to improve my photography skills as well. The result from taking these classes will show the improvement and augmentation that I have worked so hard on throughout my years.

There are many techniques that are valuable to me when involved in design. For drawing both digitally and on paper, being able to shade and put depth, a certain perspective, and liveliness into the work creates a well drawn illustration. For video editing and photography, being able to keep the video and picture at a good quality can create a more professional look. For anything involving typography, there shouldn’t be any font that is illegible or crowds your illustration. Keeping things minimalistic can also make the design more aesthetic and pleasing to observe. The littlest details are the most important when it comes to design. Personally, I loved doing the menu recreation because I got to put many aspects of art into my work. I was able to create from scratch and come up with my own idea about a restaurant that I enjoy eating at which could possibly be seen by the public. I could also combine my illustration skills with adobe illustrator and then design and add typography with Indesign.

Art has definitely made a major impact on my life and has a special place in my heart. Doing this graphic design class, I’ve been able to learn new skills and refine my artistry with photoshop, illustrator and many more adobe softwares. These skills will positively influence my future and my aspirations that I want to accomplish.
